Hello! It has been a while. Just popping on here to say 'Hello' and 'Goodbye'. I am not able to make new youtube videos, or update my blog. I suspect that it will remain so for a while. However, I am still active on instagram, here and there. So if you still want to follow my journey, please follow me on insta. My instagram name is 'Tassycrafty'.
Stay happy, stay blessed.
I figured that since I am on a roll today, I might as well introduce you to my Etsy Printable Shop. What are printables? These are becoming so popular where you can purchase a print, print at home, or print at your local printers. The price you would pay for the print would be a fraction of what you would pay if it was an actual art work. The reason printables are becoming so popular or has been popular for a while now is that more and more, people like to freshen up house decor, for personal reasons or to go with a theme and oftentimes, to fit in with a seasonal theme.
So here is a glimpse of what you could find at my shop.
There are many more. All these are available to you instantly once you have made a purchase. Sometimes you will be able to open the files straightaway, at other times, you will have to unzip the files and use them straightaway. Some of them come with commercial license, with no limitation on how many end products you can make.
This blog post is way overdue. It is the 1st of August, 2020. The last time I updated this blog was in 2018. I can begin to tell you why I could not keep up with blogging but it doesn't matter anymore. So I will swiftly move to what is happening next.
I have been back creating content for my youtube channel (Tassycrafty) but the contents have changed drastically. I do not focus mainly on paper crafting anymore. One thing for sure, I do get bored doing the same thing over and over again over a long period of time. I am a fine artist at heart, I studied painting as my majors(BA in Fine arts) and painting is what truly excites me. However, if I have to paint every single day of my life, it will actually kill the joy of that craft. I know, you may think that , artists would want to do just that every day...not in my case.
When I started paper crafting, I was blown away by the possibility of creating products from rubber stamps, pretty patterned papers, some amazing tools. And I did explore that to a great extent. I was able to 'pass the time' by learning new techniques and sharing that on youtube and social media. And I did have time as I was working as a TA back then. When I qualified as an Art Teacher and started teaching, however, time was something I was craving for. So instead of using the little time I had to 'craft' I was making art which I could also take into my classroom to share with my pupils. Also, I have been working with such talented young artists, they keep me on my toes. As you know, Art is forever changing- contemporary art is growing exponentially. One minute, someone is asking me to talk about such technique( which I have never heard of), the next day itself, I have to demonstrate yet another new technique which I did not even learn at University. So the challenge of 'keeping up with the Kardashians...oops I mean Keeping up with the young talented artists' was palpable. So I had to do what was right for me to do- STOP crafting and focus on Art, fine art, contemporary art, Art in its all shape and form. And that was exciting.
So I was yet facing new challenges in my personal life, career, and these were enough to keep me on my toes. I started to sell quite a bit of my crafting supplies as I really did not have much storage and also I just felt so bad that they were just sitting there screaming at me 'Use us, love us again'...and I just could not bear with that. It was so hard to part with them but knowing they were going to crafters who will love them again, that made me feel somewhat better.
Now fast track to TODAY. After having spent quite a few years now, almost 6, as a teacher I have finally gathered my resources. My lesson plans, my worksheets, and a lot more samples, I finally started to have a bit of time again. Now, few years ago, I was gifted an Ipad pro by my husband. Now bear in mind, I only could use photoshop and Illustrator at the beginner's level. I had a small tablet and I used to use that to draw but still found it extremely hard as using a Wacom, you have to draw on the Wacom but look at the screen. After a while, sure you get used to it, but still quite hard. So that did not bring me joy but I know I was quite interested in digital art. So one day when my husband told me if I would be interested in an Ipad Pro, my reply was 'What's that?' .He told me you can draw on the iPad. I was like, really? And I was more reluctant to look into it simply because I just thought it would not be as interesting as it sounds. He got it for me anyway. The first day I got it, I downloaded procreate as I did a bit of research prior to the delivery. And oh my days!!! I was hooked. No I mean, seriously, I was totally hooked. Perhaps, using the word 'addiction' is not the best term here, but I feel like I was and I am still very much addicted to my iPad pro. My iPad is my new 'sanity heaven'. When I am super stressed out, I will just get my iPad out and start drawing and give and take 5 mins in, I am completely lost in procreate- 'Lost' in a good way. So here is how my 'Tassycrafty Characters' illustrations began. Procreate is a fantastic app that allows you to draw and paint, in several different ways.
So, my journey to Digi art began. I was inspired to also open an Etsy shop. I always wanted to have a range of stationeries but I never really know what I would want as a theme. And suddenly, I fell in love with the Tassycrafty Characters so they started to feature more and more in my art so I thought why not have them as the going 'theme'!
Let me introduce you to these cute hijabi illustrations. Some wear scarves, some don't. If you are curious about my illustrations, head over to my instagram to have a nosey-
And here is an intro to the characters so far...
So as you can see, they are now available as a print on drawstring bags on my etsy. Link to my shop below:-
Well, now you have been able to catch up with some of the things I have been doing.
My next question is, should I keep this blog or create a new one? I know there are quite a few subscribers on here who probably are so not interested in this kind of project. I totally understand if you unsubscribe. If you decide to stay, well, thank you. Hope you will not be disappointed. I am right now debating whether to get a domain blog, which also combines a shop area. Well, so many things I would like to do but need to educate myself upon first. By the way, before I dive into a new project, I do my homework first. It is so important to research, be informed, and understand why you will do what you decide to do. So, this is mostly from a business point of view. When it comes to art, well, just do art to your heart's content. I do art because, well there is no because.
Alright, that would be all from me for today. However, I will add my first 'Comeback' vlog followed by one of the 7 vlogs I uploaded recently.

I hope you are all well. I was sent these markers a few weeks ago to review but unfortunately due to being sick, I was not able to do it . However, I have not put the video together. I still do not know why there is a wash of white light in my video. I really need to look at the settings again. When I am filming, the recording on the screen seems to be okay. I am so sorry about that.
Anyways you can watch the review HERE on youtube in HD. Be sure to like, subscribe and comment. Or you can watch it below.
I found these markers to be fantastic. I have tried them on glass jars, metal lid, and they work really well. I would recommend them and you can also wipe them off when you need to update your storage. The big markers are so handful when I design posters. Even kids love them.
If you want to check the company out, then click on the link below.Link to buy these markers https://www.paintmarkersource.com Please note this video is not sponsored but I did receive them for free in return for a review. My opinion is truly my own.
Hope you are all well. Today I would like to share this project I have made using the fantastic products from the Scrawlr Box April 2017. I have now been subscribed for a few months to Scrawlr box which is a monthly subscription box, providing a range of art supplies from markers to paint. So far I have thoroughly enjoyed opening my box every month to discover new products. What I really like is the fact that, had it not been for Scrawlr Box, I probably would have never bought these supplies since they are supplies, either I have never heard of, or supplies I would never usually use in my art work. Being an art teacher, it is imperative that I brush on my skills but to also learn new skills and techniques as my pupils have different likes and skills.
Therefore, getting new supplies is brilliant. The box also comes with a challenge each month. Each month, an artist will be featured and we have to use that artist as inspiration in order to create our own art work. I find this truly inspirational since I get to get out of my comfort zone to try a 'style' which perhaps is not my regular style at all. It really helps me to take risks and open up to a new world of creativity and exciting opportunities.
This month, the featured artist is Stina Jones. I have used her as an inspiration to create a cartoon charactor with a banner that reads 'Ramadan Kareem' which means 'Happy Ramadan'. This is the month of Ramadan for muslims , a month of fasting and reflection. So Happy Ramadan to you, if you are fasting. I also have an 'Eid Mubarak' art work coming up pretty soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
Without further ado, you can watch the video in HD HERE on youtube or just watch below. If you do go to youtube, please do remember to give me a thumbs up if you have liked it, subscribe if you have not and hit the 'bell' button to ensure you get notification when I do upload new videos. Oh well, I just received my Tim Holtz positioning platform few days ago and I could not wait to open it and try it out and I fell in love with it. I have not done much stamping lately, due to the fact that I was busy with school work but having that platform has ignited my passion once again for stamping and layering. I know I will be playing quite a bit with my new tool.
I bought mine from craftstash which is a fantastic website. They have now emailed me a code to buy the sleeves to keep this tool for 50% off, how cool is that. Check them out here:-
PS: I am not sponsored by them. I mention them because I love sharing great website with you all. I had a great experience when placing my order, receiving it.
Anyways, I have told you everything I need to tell you in the video so make sure to click HERE to watch it over at youtube in HD or you can also watch it below. If you enjoy this unboxing and review, be sure to give me a thumbs up as every little helps. If you are a subscriber, have you clicked on the bell button next to the subscription button? If not please do so. If you need to unsubscribe and subscribe again, go ahead and do so. I have only been getting like not more than 80 views on my video lately because you guys are not getting any notification of my new uploads. Please make sure to click the bell button. Thank you.
You guys! I highly recommend this stamp platform to stampers out there. You will fall in love with it, I am pretty certain. Gone are the days where we try to fix bad stamping, only to make a mess or only to think we may have to go to specsavers to get glasses since our image has gone blurry. Have been there before right? So this stamp press is the answer to all these problems.
Disclaimer! I am based in the UK so the drama which surrounds this product does not affect me at all. And am I glad to live in the UK right now, haha.
Let me know what you think about this platform when you get yours. And let's share our projects made with it. I know this product is taking the craft world by storm and I also know there are some clever people out there which will find amazing and unique ways to use this platform to create wonderful pieces of work. Long live Tim Holtz, Long live Tonic Studios. :)Like I have mentioned in the video, anything that has Tim Holtz signature on it, I will buy it blindly because I know Tim is a perfectionist so he will ensures the product is top notch.
How are you all? I hope all is good. I am well and I was asked by Checiegirl Creations if I would be happy to do an unboxing video about a new Mixed Media Subscription box. I checked out her website to see what the box was all about and I was pretty excited to accept the free box so I can do a review and tutorial for you all. The box is a quarterly suscription and retails for £18 plus P&P. There is a ton of supplies in the box as you would see in the video. I was genuinely pleased with the content and I know many of you are into mixed media.
I also have created a project which will be up next week so please keep your eyes peeled. Here is a sneak peak of the mixed media canvas:-
You have got to come back to see this project made right in front of you:)
